Learning Assistant – Key Stage 1 (Supporting Pupils with SEND and SEMH Needs)

Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: Bucks Pay range
Contract: Fixed Term

At Ash Hill Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to feel a deep sense of belonging, joy in their learning and the opportunity to become the very best they can be.

We are looking for a caring, committed and proactive Learning Assistant to join our Key Stage 1 team, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) — particularly those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and learning challenges.

This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children who need extra care, understanding and encouragement to thrive.

What makes our school special

  • A strong moral purpose: We are proud to be the first school in Buckinghamshire to achieve the Bronze Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed Award, reflecting our deep commitment to inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
  • A nurturing, ambitious environment: You’ll be part of a team that sees potential, not problems — helping children develop confidence, resilience and joy in learning.
  • A supportive team culture: We work closely together, valuing everyone’s role in helping our pupils succeed. You’ll never be on your own — collaboration and kindness underpin everything we do.
  • Professional development that values you: We invest in our staff through bespoke coaching and high-quality CPD, recognising the vital role learning assistants play in pupils’ success.
  • A workload-conscious, forward-thinking school: We use streamlined systems, high-quality curriculum resources and research-based practice to help staff focus on what really matters — relationships and impact.

If you’re someone who thrives on challenge, believes in the power of education to change lives, and wants to be part of a fast-paced, innovative and compassionate school community, we would love to hear from you.

Come and help our children build the confidence, curiosity and courage to shine.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged.
