Our Commitment to a Culture of Safeguarding Excellence
At Ash Hill Primary School, safeguarding is not just a policy, it is a culture that underpins everything we do. We take a proactive, whole-school approach to protecting children, promoting wellbeing, and ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and able to thrive.
Our commitment to safeguarding is demonstrated through:
- Strong Leadership and Governance:
Safeguarding is led by highly experienced Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Manning and Mrs Smith) and team of Deputy DSLs, supported by a well-informed Safeguarding Governor. Our safeguarding practice is reviewed regularly at senior leadership and governor level to ensure it meets the highest standards. - Vigilant, Well-Trained Staff:
All staff receive high-quality, ongoing safeguarding training, including annual updates and frequent scenario-based refreshers. Our team are confident in identifying early signs of concern and act swiftly to protect children. - Early Help and Family Support:
We believe in early intervention and work closely with families and external agencies to provide timely help and support. We work closely with agencies such as Thrive, the Mental Health Support team and other Buckinghamshire early help services to support families effectively and sensitively. - A Listening School:
We foster a culture where pupils know they can speak to trusted adults about any concern. Pupil voice is central to our safeguarding work, and we regularly seek feedback to ensure children feel safe and know how to access help. - Strong Partnership Working:
We work collaboratively with local safeguarding partners, health professionals, and social care teams to protect children and promote their welfare. - Online Safety and Education:
Our curriculum teaches pupils how to stay safe online, make positive choices, and build respectful relationships. We maintain robust filtering and monitoring systems to protect pupils from online harm. - Continuous Improvement:
We conduct annual safeguarding audits, learning reviews, and reflective supervision sessions to evaluate and strengthen our practice. Our aim is not only to meet statutory requirements but to model best practice in safeguarding in education.
