Our Governing Body

The Ash Hill Primary School’s Governing Body are a diverse group of people, all volunteers, with a common interest in the school. Each governor brings different strengths and skills to the Governing Board, but all have a commitment to helping the school be the best that it can be.

The full Governing Body meets twice in the autumn term, and once in the spring and summer terms. The Headteacher acts as a professional advisor to the Governing Body. The governors delegate the day-to-day responsibility for the management of the school to the Headteacher.

The Governors focus strongly on three core functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

To help carry out these core functions each governor belongs to one or more sub-committees, which meet at least once a term. These committees are: Pupils and Learning, Learning Environment, Finance and Pay and Personnel.
